My cat Arnold has been on Lantus since the 30th of March and we are still on our first solostar pen. These past days his numbers has been fluctuating a lot, and I was wondering if it is time to start a new pen? I haven't changed anything regarding his diet, but I did try and change his dose, which was not a good idea, so we are back to the dose, where he was most stable.

Pens are good to the last drop unless the pen has been exposed to too cold or too hot temperatures or was dropped or something weird happens to the pen.

Numbers will fluctutate daily. It's normal. Arnold's numbers don't look bad, mix of yellow and blue with some green and pink. Stick with the current dose for now, at least for 7 days.

@Wendy&Neko @Sienne & Gabby (GA) will be along at some point this weekend to advise on what you can do to improve numbers.

Hi Christine! Please update your title to include the date and Arnold's name. You can leave the question toward the end of the title as is. The updated title should look like this: "5/17 Arnold AMPS ___ ADVICE..."

Adding the date and Arnold's name let's advisors know at a glance (without opening the post) when the post was made and who the post is about. Thanks!!

As long as the pen is normally stored in the fridge, it should be good to the last drop.

I agree with Elise that he's still bouncing hard. It can take six cycles for a bounce to resolve, wait a couple more cycles and see what he does.
