Sorry I was MIA today - but of course, now Binx is really throwing a curve ball. After many cycles of a bounce (yellow and pink), and high peaks into pinks (which he hasn't had for a month), we've dropped into a lime. I don't feel like it's right to reduce him, but wondering what others might think? My worry is that we've been here before - a good stretch of greens/blues, jumping to some yellows and then reducing and losing the progress we've made. This happened at the beginning of march.

If anyone is still up - any thoughts on what I should do with tomorrow's AM shot?

Thanks 💚💙

Hi Briana 😊
Since Binx is officially a long term diabetic (more than one year since dx), you can take reductions when he falls under 40. See this link Info - Reminder: *earning* reductions and starting OTJ trials | Feline Diabetes Message Board - FDMB
Thanks, Angela! I’d been wondering about him being long term, so that’s helpful. Should I hold 2.50 units or go back to 2.75 since I took the reduction on a very high 40 on 5/26? Since he’s hit another 40 since, maybe I hold the 2.50 units but don’t reduce?

Still light here. Just barely. 😎

Another option for you to consider is whether you think Binx doesn't hold reductions well. If he fits in that category, an alternative method of earning reductions is three times between 40 and 49, on separate days, Of course, if he goes under 40, you reduce then too. There's also the week in solid green method.... We can dream.

A thought for you for the future, when you see a bounce breaking cycle like during the day today (pink slide down to blue, get a test earlier than +4 if you can. Those follow on cycles can be quite active and if an earlier test had shown him diving, you could have fed him something a little bit higher carbs to try to slow him down prevent the lime.

Thanks, Wendy! 😊 I had wondered if this morning’s high was one of those HIGHs before dropping low, I should foreseen something like this. It’s good to know that checking early in the cycle after a drop like we saw today can yield much lower numbers and to watch for those. Will do in the future.

My suspicion is that he’s held reductions well so far, but I’ll monitor this. I’ve seen him hit limes on consecutive days before, so maybe 3 40-49’s in a row will also be a good indication for taking a reduction.
