6/1 Jude | AMPS 124; +5 81; PMPS 103; +3 74

The other day when Jude's numbers began to be a little wonky, I had just begun giving him Omega-3 Salmon Oil, which is suggested for cats with FIC. As soon as his numbers began going up, I stopped giving it to him because I wasn't sure if that was the culprit or if it was FIC. Perhaps it's coincidental and not related to the fish oil, but his numbers returned to normal when I stopped giving it to him. I didn't think that there was a chance that fish oil could affect his bg, but today I began researching it, and apparently the jury is out with some studies reporting that in humans fish oil supplementation affects bg and in other studies it indicates it does not.

Does anyone know anything about this? Does/can fish oil supplementation raise bg in felines?

Never heard of this. I gave Neko fish oil as an anti-inflammatory for her arthritis. Any chance he's allergic to fish? Did you read the ingredients, nothing odd added? Lots of people use Nordic Naturals for cats.

Hi Mary, interesting question. I’ll be curious what you learn.
Hope you are both having a very calm day! 😻🐈🐾

@Wendy&Neko, The anti-inflammatory properties (for the bladder) are what I was after, too. Here's the brand. I'm not seeing any additives? I think I'll reintroduce it and see what happens.

FYI: the advice for use of fish oil supplementation in felines is inconsistent, but one thing I am seeing--somewhat consistently--is that animals with a history of p-itis should be careful with fish oil supplementation.

I posted this in another thread (can't remember which condo) but I suspect freeze dried herring treats is what caused Leroy's recent p-itis. So there may be some truth to fish / fish oil not being good for cats prone to p-itis.
