6/8 Esse AMPS 379, time for a new vial?

The Libre made it through my trip, which is great, but seeing him so high all weekend made it kind of hard to really relax! My bf did great work as a solo cat-parent though. Yesterday he did spot check urine ketones (neg/trace) and did a handheld meter check (confirming what we've been told that the Libre's highs are higher than the true values).

He could have been super high this weekend with the stress of adjusting to having the Libre on, or me being gone--wishful thinking on my part that he cares that much, haha--or do we think that it might be time for a new insulin vial, that this one has lost effectiveness? No floaties/discoloration but this is just a long interrupted stretch of no good numbers. Or could there be something else going on?

Could be the insulin pooping out. Can you get the pens instead of the bottle? A pen will last to the last drop.

Esse, pink is no fun. Blue is much better.

Okay cool, thanks for confirming my thoughts!

Our initial prescription was for 3 vials so once that's due for refill I would like to ask about the pens instead.

How long have you been using this Lantus vial? Most people get 5-6 months out of a vial if kept in the fridge. I don't think it's the vial.

Your spreadsheet says he got a fur shot a couple nights ago, that would explain higher numbers. It can take 3 days for the depot to rebuild. Plus he's only on the third cycle of this dose, it's possible he's seeing some New Dose Wonkiness too.

How long have you been using this Lantus vial?

I picked it up the day before his first shot, so 4/14/25. We are super careful about keeping it in the fridge and cleaning the cap.

Edit: So you think I should give it a couple more cycles before going for a new vial?
