Hope everyone had a nice Fourth of July in the US 🇺🇸 with no stress from fireworks for you or your pets!

We had a quiet 4th and the only excitement we had was Ivy took a dip last night in her cycle after a flat yellow a.m. cycle😬
I spent the night in the basement with her on the sofa, feeding snacks through a good portion of the cycle.
It’s gonna be a long day ☕☕☕

We are headed out to dinner tonight and no one will be home with her so that doesn’t thrill me (and she’s been having active cycles lately).
I will be home by +4 tonight.

Usually, my son likes to hang around the house when we go out, but he will be out as well tonight.

I normally feed her 12% meal and snacks when I go out, but I may bump that up to 16% tonight just to try to make sure she’s extra safe from an early dive when no one’s around 😬

Hope everyone has a calm, quiet, boring Saturday with a very safe surf 🏄‍♂️🌊🏄🏄‍♀️😻

I hope you can grab a little nap sometime today, Staci. It looks like she had herself a little bounce this a.m. and now she's slowly dropping; I hope she keeps it within the guardrails so that you can enjoy a nice evening out. I don't blame you for leaving some 16% for her, especially since she's a little unpredictable, and that will likely help you feel more comfortable. Have a great weekend!

Thanks, Mary 😁
I’m going to try to rest a little now before we go out. Hoping I can catch a few zzzzzs😍

It’s interesting, since I make Ivy‘s food, I feel like the 12% and 16% don’t really give the zing that the commercial made stuff does. There’s no tapioca, there’s no commercial starches in the homemade foods I make.
I use sweet potato as a carb, but it doesn’t seem to really have the same punch as the canned foods.
So even though I’m giving a higher carb, it doesn’t send her to the moon.
Just want to keep her safe for a few hours, but at least I can watch her on the Libre in case there’s any problem.
Hope and Jude are having a calm, relaxing day 😻

I was going to ask how you manage the different %carbs with homemade. I'm not loving the MC I use, when he has a lot of it I can tell he feels off. Partly cause it's not his regular food.

Enjoy your night out, you have Ivy dialed in pretty well to keep her safe. 🤗❤️

It’s been several years of tweaking and testing to draw conclusions, Laurie. Ivy isn’t very carb sensitive, so sometimes I need to use commercial food if I can’t bring her up.

Her food must be more complex carbohydrates, with no garbage in it. But sometimes I need the big guns to stabilize her.

Totally get that. Wonder how much quicker white potato would be instead of sweet potato. Shes a lucky, lucky girl 😍👩‍🍳
