We had a nice green day yesterday even with the travel and settling in. Hope this bounce is quick.

Been kinda bummed that in lower numbers I rarely get any love from my boy. Appears he only comes for comfort for food or high numbers. Makes me a little sad cause I work so hard for this little guy. But I don't want him to be sick just for loves. Anyone else have a non affectionate cat? He was like this when we first adopted him too, I would get the occasional morning lap time groom sesh but that was pretty much it.

Why, why all the pictures? 😝

Awww I adore his sweet face. Glad to hear he's didn't shoot up during your drive to the lake. Enjoy your time there. I'm so jealous of your space up there.

Both Nestle and Peanut are not lap cats. They show their love in different ways though. Sometimes they will come and sit beside me on the couch and Nestle usually sleeps beside me in bed. He also loves to lick me obsessively. Not sure if you'd classify that as affectionate or not. All I know I had to make my peace with the fact they're not lap cats but I know they still love me.

Petey loves you and knows you're taking care of him and make him feel better. He just shows it in other ways. Look for those small gestures from him.

That's helpful to hear, I try not to overthink it, worried something is wrong, but it's just who he is when he feels good. 🐿🤯

That's hilarious about the licking, that is definitely a sign of affection 🤗, Olive does that with her Daddy.

You're not far from North Conway... we could have a diabetic cat retreat!

Jude's not a velcro cat, but he almost always comes for head rubs and pets if I put my hand down and encourage him. Occasionally he likes to lay next to me on the couch, but he's not much of a lap kitty. Jude's behavior is rarely ever different in relation to his bg numbers--the only time it's different is when he has been very, very sick. Normally, he's just a pretty stoic little guy.

I hope Petey breaks that cycle soon!

I feel you Laurie. Noogi is not a lap cat at all, and isn't consistent in his seeking of affection. He likes to be with me, but not fussed over too much.
Noticing it more as he ages too. I try to give him his space.

I remind myself that needy cats are a LOT of work!

Good to know and glad I'm not alone. And you're right Helen, needy kitties can be a lot of work, so independence may be in our favor! It just feels extra special when they do cuddle up.

He may not be a lap cat but looks like he's a puzzle cat! It's nice he still hangs around, even if it's not for cuddles. Binx is hit or miss, sometimes he loves cuddles and other times he prefers the floor haha. I will say, right now while he's recovering, he's been VERY cuddly. Can't wait for him to get better but will miss this level of affection 🥹

Hope you two have a nice night together 🤗

Hi Laurie, glad Petey does well with travel to your lake house. He looks so relaxed as he “supervises” puzzle time 🥰

Ivy isn’t a lap cat either. She never has been. She used to sleep in bed with us but always slept at my feet on the wooden headboard. (Odd, but her choice)

Now she sleeps in her room in the basement, it’s her cozy space with all of her needs met there.
But she usually comes up before I get up in the morning and climbs on me for cuddles and kneading time.

I’ve also had to make peace with a non lap cat, it’s just her personality. What can you do!

But it’s obvious Petey loves you and he’s just another independent kitty, doing his own thing.
We seem to have a lot of those as we see in this thread
