Dear FDMB Members:
As you are all aware, the original board www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB has been down since April 24, 2025. We’d like to give you an update to what we have been working on and what the future might hold. We apologize it has taken so long but things have been constantly shifting and we did not always have a direction to share with you.
First, we would like to thank Tim & Pookey, who is the current board’s administrator, for stepping up and creating what we thought would be a very temporary backup board. He has put an immeasurable amount of time into getting this current board up and running as well as transferring over Stickys, Info posts, etc. We owe him much gratitude for giving us all a place to find each other and move forward saving diabetic cats and helping you all.
On April 24, the Moderators along with Chris & China began reaching out to the webmaster, Robert, to reboot the board. While we do not need to go into all those specifics, what we have found out is, very tragically, Robert was critically injured and remains unable to communicate. We have reached out to the original board founder, Rebecca (Robert’s aunt), and she is trying to find the credentials we would need to have someone like Tim go in and reboot the board and, ultimately, update it. The good news is the domain for that site was due to expire in June, 2025 but it must have some type of auto-renew on it because we have found out it is good now until June, 2026 which buys us time to see if we can get the credentials and get it back up and running. The downside is as long as that board still is valid, even though it is not operable, we cannot use its domain name so we have tried to get the current one which is as close as we can get. I think we can all appreciate how wonderful this new board works thanks to Tim!
However, we must be forthright and acknowledge that might not happen and this new board might become the permanent one. If that appears it will be the case, please rest assured the Moderators, with Tim’s help, will get this board updated so all links will be within it instead of referring back to the old board as most links do now.
We are trying to “roundup” as many former members as we can and we three Moderators monitor the old board each day as, some new members are able to post to the moderation queue which is not otherwise visible. The private messaging (PM) system does seem to work so we reach out to them in that manner. Unfortunately, the old board has not allowed any of us to post a forwarding announcement to this board. If each of you can continue to reach out to any members you have personal contact with and direct them to the new board, we will rebuild our tight community.
Lastly, as you can imagine, establishing this new board and, if necessary, making it the permanent board (or even getting access to the old board and updating it) costs money. So far, Tim has graciously footed that bill but as soon as we can establish a way to make anonymous donations, we will let you know. Any amount helps, even $1.00, but please rest assured, as always, there is no requirement to contribute and advice here is always freely given. We know the current economic climate is difficult for many; we will provide a way to donate if you are able but there is never any obligation…..only gratitude. In the meantime, there is an Amazon link if you are able to do your Amazon shopping through that link, it helps.
We are thankful for each and every one of you, not only that you have found this board, but for your support and caring towards other members to make it our temporary, and perhaps, permanent “home”. We are thankful each of you continues to pay it forward by helping new members. And lastly, we appreciate your patience as we work through this. Rest assured we are all extremely committed in ensuring this board, regardless of the web address, stays intact and continues to help diabetic cats and their loving caregivers.
