YIKES! That was a HUGE drop, tested twice same number. I noticed he was restless and breathing seemed rapid (but it is a little humid too). He followed me back to the kitchen so decided to give him a snack and test early.... I would not have normally tested starting at 195! And I had tested twice at AMPS too cause first number was 251 and I knew the drop of blood wasn't quite right.

Can someone help me understand this huge drop....

Hope everyone has a calm day while I am over here getting daily surprises! 😲🥴

Leroy is fine, all things considering. I gave up putting the carrier back into the closet. I just have it out so if Leroy needs to go to the vet, I can just pop him in.

I think we're in the clear.

Outstanding questions:

1. What causes a huge, fast drop like that? Anyway to see it may be coming?
2. Should I decrease tonight?
3. His night cycle is so different, will he eventually come into it a little greener once he stops bouncing?
4. What does your crystal ball show for tomorrow? 😉😜

2. You've been long enough at this dose that it's the 2.5 units talking - reduce.
3. Be happy with the current situation. Neko used to do her "bouncette" during the day and drop during the night. Eventually when the mini bounces stopped, she flattened out. But it cost a lot of sleep on my part.
4. You tell me what you think will happen tomorrow. What has happened the following day the last several times he's gone green during the daytime? Look at his cycle patterns, by which I mean more than one cycle at a time, look at several and see if you see a pattern. With Neko on Lantus, I could spot a 3 cycle pattern which meant the following one would be a dive.
1. Related to 4 above. There are a few things that can cause steep dive. One is a bounce breaking cycle that typically has some downward momentum to it. Some cats will also do a climb up as they break the bounce, followed by a fall. Petey did seem to be doing a steady climb last night. The other thought is a loss of duration the cycle before hand. If for example, he got into some dog food (ahem!) during the night, his numbers would zoom up. But when the insulin kicks in the following cycle it could drop fast. Yet another option could be any meds/supplements given during the early PM that wear off by the AM cycle. Not saying that is happening here, but have seen it happen with others.

Thank you, I appreciate your experience and time.

His pattern would be a bounce, yellow and blue tomorrow. Cept I'm taking a reduction and he appears he may hold the green tomorrow.

The dive today is a bit terrifying and I absolutely did not predict that, I would have thought I was safe to leave the house.

I have been picking the dog food up just to make sure he's not sneaking any haha he's been trying!

Wow! Really big drop! 😲 I'm glad you got some good, clear advice (I have a lot of the same questions since Xander is also a diver!) and I hope the reduction goes well. Hopefully he won't give you any scary greens while the depot levels out.

It's so frustrating when it feels like things come out of nowhere! It always makes me feel like we're never "safe," something like this could always be around the corner.

Good luck with the reduction, Laurie and Petey! 😻He’s been quite the active boy these day 💚
Have a safe night.
Glad you’ve gotten some good feedback and guidance ❤️‍🩹
