Not sure yet. I don't know for certain if his recent pain has been due to an injury (from which he is recovering) or from arthritis getting worse. Once I stop the anti-inflammatory (today was the last dose) I will be watching to see if the pain returns and if so, will work on a treatment plan with my vet.
I feel like it might be a bit of both? He definitely has arthritis in his lower back, but it has been fairly mild. But I expect will worsen, or he will have more flare ups as he ages. For now though he is moving so much better and is clearly feeling better.
Vet suggested a low dose gabapentin. I have reservations though as when he had it previously it made him sooooo hungry. And I don't think he should be eating any more!
