Hi all, this is a poop color question. Oregano’s poops over the past two days have been a light creamy grey; much paler than usual. Normal consistency but definitely a pale light color.

I know this can be a symptom of pancreatitis. Does anyone else have any experience with this? Her appetite is good, normal energy, no fever. She had vomited a couple times in the past week which isn’t normal for her. And seems to have, at times, some belly pain

I am considering taking her in for an exam and wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this (suddenly very pale poops) or if I’m possibly over reacting.

Thanks, oregano and wade.

Here is the FDMB info on pancreatitis: Info - A Primer On Pancreatitis | Feline Diabetes Message Board - FDMB
No mention there of changes to poop colour and I haven't noticed it as symptom, but maybe others have?
As you can see abdominal pain and vomiting are signs, but it's mostly lethargy and not eating, so it is encouraging that Oregano is eating and behaving as normal. That said, pancreatitis can happen very suddenly so keep a close eye on here ( I know you do that anyway!)

Hi Wade, I agree with Helen. I’m not familiar with a change of color. Had she eaten anything new or different?
With Ivy it was very loose poops that just got worse and worse.

I would at least call your vet to see what they think. And of course watch her very closely, as you are.
The vomiting is a concern, too. Since it’s not normal for her.

Do you have anti nausea and anti vomiting meds at home, if needed? (Cerenia, ondansetron, mirtazipine for appetite). Those are very good to have if you should need them. Also, Jarrows S. Boulardii in case of diarrhea.

I hope Oragano is ok! Keep us posted. 💖

thank you. it does not sound like, based on that info, that she has pancreatitis. normal energy levels and appetite, and sleeps well through the night. her poops have gone back to normal color too so maybe just a passing thing. tough to know though--she eats the same thing every day so likely not that. i am keeping a close eye on her and may be taking her in this week for a culture if she looks like she's getting a uti. part of paralysis is she can't posture properly to empty her bladder, so the bladder never fully empties, and "sludge" for lack of a better word builds up which every now and then she passes through the urethra. the vet said ordinarily it would be quite painful but due to the paralysis she doesn't feel much down there. which i guess is a blessing in this case.

at any rate, keeping a close eye on her.

i hope everyone has a great day and sees lots of blues and greens today. :)
