Jude ran into the low 50s for a bit last night, so I had to feed +8 and then HC to get him into safer numbers.

Last night I began giving him a +9 snack in the last two cycles. Last night his PMPS was lower (in the 90s), but this morning's was higher than normal, probably because he was bouncing from last night's lows. He's back within normal range at +5, so the bounce is over.

Have a nice day, everyone! Safe surfing, kitties!

I had bit of a 💡lightbulb moment💡when Sienne said this on your condo yesterday
The food is stimulating his pancreas to produce insulin. Ideally, if you give a snack before +10, it may do the same thing and bring the preshot number a bit lower.
I'd never thought about it like that!

I am going to be following closely to see if the +8/+9 snack works to bring the pre-shot blues down into greens for Jude.
I know he's a grazer - how are you going to make sure he eats at the right time and not later?

This is my main stumbling block with trying same with Noogi. I am going to try, just not sure how I'm going to monitor.

Omg...I'm glad you're getting this because I'm still baffled o_O When they don't eat, their bg drops. But when they eat, their bg drops. But when they eat their bg goes up :oops::rolleyes: I'm blindly following this guidance :)

I'm going to get a timed feeder, and I'll only put a tablespoon or so in the feeder at +9. He may have eaten everything in his am/pm food bowls--or not--but he'll be more attracted to fresh food in the feeder than if there are other leftovers in the bowl (and usually there isn't much left over when I get home from work and up in the a.m.) That's what the plan is; we'll see how it goes.

The +9 snack experiment is usually something we suggest to people whose cat's are close to remission, like 0.25 units. It's fine if it's zero carbs, but otherwise you risk shortening his insulin duration and giving you higher preshots.
Well, dammit. I had to go and read Neko's tribute and watch her video, and now I'm a bit of a puddle 😭
What a precious little girl.
Do you have other cats now?
