Hi all ๐Ÿ˜บ

from yesterday:
He's still seeing quite a few blues (thankfully low ones) and nadirs mostly above 80. Any thoughts of an increase to see if you can move his numbers down just a bit?
Been thinking about this. I have, of course, noticed more blue creeping in, including our highest one in a few weeks just now.
However in a fortnight's time I am going to be going away for ten days. My cat sitter will be moving in to look after Noogi.
So I was thinking I would wait and look at an increase beginning of July.

I don't want to jeopardise our progress, but I also don't want to worry too much when I am away. I need things to go smoothly for my cat sitter as I have another slightly longer trip planned in a few months time when I am going to require her help again. I would rather Noogs be slightly higher while I am away than have her have to deal with any dangerous lows. And I was hoping to keep the need for ear pricks to a minimum (just pre-shot).

Is sticking to current 0.5u dose for the rest of the month the right thing to be doing? Or should I look at increasing dose to 0.75u for the next ten/eleven days, and then doing back down to 0.5u for while I am away? (I think I remember reading lowering dose while away is what others do?). @Wendy&Neko @Bandit's Mom would love your advice here ๐Ÿ™

I'd appreciate any advice on leaving your diabetic baby with someone else. Any wisdom or helpful hints to share? Things that have worked/not worked for you?

As mentioned a day or two ago I am busy preparing notes for my cat sitter. She has looked after him for years but only once since his diagnosis (for a week last Christmas). Last time I was only a couple hours away and would have come home if needed. This time I am going to be far away, and possibly not even in cellphone range some of the time, which is making me very anxious. I have a friend and a cousin who will be emergency contacts. I will also give my vet a heads up. I have done a pet care authorization letter in case of a proper medical emergency. And I've printed out all the info about hypos plus a list of symptoms of pancreatitis to watch for.

One thing I am grateful about is that Noogi is not an anxious cat. I'm doing enough worrying for the both of us so he can chill :)

And chill he will ๐Ÿ˜Ž. I hope you enjoy yourself as well.

If there's a chance she can't get a hold of you would having access to this board be helpful? Then we can all help babysit too ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿˆโ€โฌ›๏ธ.
Thank you Laurie. Yes that is good idea. I will discuss with her!
I really like the thought that she could get some advice and reassurance from you all if she needs to ๐Ÿ’–

I always have instructions written out and somewhere visible for whoever is watching my kitties. Sounds like you've done all that and more. The only other thing I can suggest is get a camera you can watch him on. I got mine on Amazon for $30 and so worth it. Definitely puts my mind at ease while I'm not home and they're alone. Luckily the way my living room is set up i have a good view of them most of the time.
Good luck and I hope all goes well ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿพ๐Ÿˆ๐Ÿ’•

You've gotten some good advice here. I just wanted to say how cute and lovable he looks in this picture. I hope you receive some good feedback on the dose increase/decrease. The good news is he's so steady, so I feel certain he's going to be just fine while you're gone. And you're certainly doing everything you can to make sure that if something odd happens, he's covered.

Awwww Noogi looks so peaceful ๐Ÿ˜ป๐Ÿ’•
It sounds like youโ€™ve got everything lined up very well, Helen.
I also like the idea of your friend having access to us if she needs a hand.

Wishing you a safe and wonderful trip ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿ’•

I'd vote for getting into slightly better numbers, even if just for a week. I worry about his body getting used to those higher numbers. You can always reduce 3 days before you leave, to make sure the depot is drained. And post a day or two before you leave for help on dose for the petsitter.

It sounds like you've covered all your bases, Helen! And I agree that having your pet sitter be able to post if needed (and keep us updated on our favorite Noogs of course) is a great idea. I definitely understand your trepidation, but I also think you've done such a great job getting him controlled and stable that everything will probably go just fine. ๐Ÿ’š

Thanks Karolina ๐Ÿค—.
Yes I have notes galore. Hadn't thought of a camera - I'll have to give that a think.

Aw, thanks Mary ๐Ÿซถ
He is as soft and cuddly as he looks in that pic. Especially now in winter! Sometimes I think back to when he first moved in (he was my neighbour's cat originally) he would allow almost no petty or cuddles. Such a different boy now!
In my head I know he will almost certainly be fine. It's more that I don't want to leave him! Even to go on a lovely road trip holiday with my family ๐Ÿ˜†

Thank you Staci! It's an exciting itinerary in a place I've not been before (Namibia). As I feel calmer about leaving him I am looking forward to the adventure more :)

Thank you! Increased dose as of this morning. And will review a few days before I leave.

Thanks Brianna. I am hoping so! That bout of pancreatitis really ramped up my anxiety over leaving him but he recovered so well. Paws crossed we have no last minute curve balls. It helps that he can stay in his familiar environment. And I know he is besties with my cat sitter :)
