He had bloody watery diarrhea twice overnight 🙁 The one at 2am was on the pee pad covered litter mat. Can't tell if he couldn't make it into the box or if it's just Leroy doing his usual pooping outside the box thing. The diarrhea smelled somewhat fishy. The MC snacks I fed him Tuesday night was Weruva Pumpkin Jack Splash. Maybe fish / seafood doesn't agree with his tummy anymore? He had freeze dried herring treats on Saturday before p-itis. He got bupe last night before I went to bed and again this morning. He got Mirataz this morning since he wasn't interested in eating. It's been half an hour and still no improvement. He's meatloafing in a Chewy box right now. If there's still no improvement in another half hour, he's getting packed up for a trip to the ER. My vet will be in around 7am and I'll be sure that the ER lets him know about Leroy. I don't want to leave a message for the vet now and wait for him to call me back and then bring Leroy in. Sometimes it can be hours because he has in-hospital cases to check on and rounds and appointments and consults and unexpected things happen.

Fortunately there's no team meeting today so I'm going to take today off as a personal emergency. Tiger Mom will just have to deal. I'll just have to go in tomorrow to get stuff done.

No change :( He wasn't even interested in rice cakes. It's back to the ER.

My dream last night was taking Leroy to the ER and seeing our regular vet in the lobby so I dragged Leroy over to him and he examined Leroy right there while the long line of clients waiting to be seen gave us the evil eye 😂 Then I somehow wound up taking Leroy and a long haired orange and white cat home in the same carrier😅

Home now and he just wants to camp out by the water bowl. He got fluids with Cerenia at the vet so he should be ok for now. He's not interested in food still 🫤

I guess the injectable Cerenia isn't supposed to be prescribed for home use but the vet gave me 4 pre-filled syringes to use with Leroy so I can avoid another trip to the hospital this weekend.

Hopefully he'll eat dinner later 🤞Maybe instead of Cerenia I'll try the Zofran instead. I'm not going to check bgs until dinner time. He's cranky. I know he doesn't feel well and I'm only trying to help him feel better 🥺

Thanks everyone! The support and vines are much appreciated 🤗 I've only told two friends about Leroy since they've worked as vet techs before. I haven't told another group of friends since they wouldn't understand even though some of them have their own pets.

There is a prescription for chlorambucil to fill at Wedgewood.
What is the dose and frequency? And how much does Leroy weigh? I'm glad you've got ondansetron, he'll probably need it for sure about 1/2 hour before chlorambucil and every 8 hours after for a few days.

Piling on a bunch more healing vines for Leroy. 🤗

Chlorambucil is to have on hand if/when the vet asks us to change from budesonide based on IBD symptoms. 1.7 mg capsules from Wedgewood, one capsules SID. I just called Wedgewood and Leroy's prescription is being formulated or something so it's not ready to be ordered. Leroy weighs 3.2 kg today (7 lbs), down a few ounces from when he was discharged 😬 Normal weight is 9 lbs.

I have 4 capsules of Flagyl left so I put a refill order in at Wedgewood with 2 day shipping instead of normal. I've had issues with my last two Wedgewood orders not being delivered because USPS is👎

Leroy seems more alert now. He's up walking and head butting me. I think he might want food but dinner is in less than 2 hours so I'm holding off on a snack although a bg spike right now is the least of my concerns. His butt smells like rancid fish diarrhea 🤢 No more seafood for him. I have to look at the food chart again to find a MC rabbit or lamb food, maybe Koha Stews?

Glad he is up and about, how scary! What % do you use for MC?

Way too much chlorambucil! The older protocol for chlorambucil is 2 mg every other day. Still fairly commonly given dosing. The newer protocol would be 4.3 mg every two weeks for his weight. Two of my kitties on chlorambucil started on the EOD method, third I only did the every other week method. Way less nausea on the every other week one. Gives them a break between doses.

On the Cerenia, my vet also gave me the option to get Cerenia in syringes for take home. But apparently it stings. And I managed to get pills in. Now, at least in Canada, we can get transdermal maropitant - the generic, which goes in the ears. Way easier to give.

Leroy doesn’t still have to wear that horrible hard plastic cone, right??
I wish they wouldn’t use such a hard and impossible cone on them.

I’ve started bringing my own soft cone to the vet to use if needed. Those hard ones are the worst!

We are sending more healing vines for sweet Leroy😻😻😻

Leroy doesn't need to wear a cone. I just put one on him for vet visits because it keeps him somewhat more manageable for the vet and tech. And less chance of being bitten by him. He really doesn't mind wearing the cone.

He ate some dinner with the meds he needs: budesonide, Zofran, gabapentin, Flagyl. It took him awhile with coaxing and FortiFlora and what civvie didn't finish for her dinner. My first attempt at fluids wasn't a total failure but I got less than 75 ml into him. The problem is that Leroy doesn't hold still so the needle kept popping out. He doesn't need to be on fluids for very long but I'm going to look into the IV harness thing that is on the IBDKItties web site for future use.

The Cerenia goes into the fluid line so it stings less. His next dose is tomorrow morning.

MC is 15%-ish. Koha doesn't have the kangaroo or vension stew anymore😭 Anyone know of a novel protein MC food?

Aww, poor Leroy! I'm sorry to hear he's been so sick again! So soon, too. 😔

I'm glad he's up and socializing and eating some. Sending healing vines and love!

Forgot - I only found the 2am puddle of diarrhea because civvie woke me up complaining. She never does that. The smell of rancid fish hit me  so I had to get up to put the pee pad into the trash.

Magic dog's owner will take the freeze dried fish treats and the two seafood pouched foods. She has a cat as well. Civvie will get to see her dog friend and maybe magic dog's brief visit will improve Leroy's bgs. It won't be this weekend because it's raining (again 😵‍💫).

Thanks, Tim! Unfortunately, none of the foods on that list work for Leroy :( The MC lamb ones have chicken or fish in it as well. I'm not sure if I want to raise bgs and risk an upset tummy at the same time 🫣

Leroy's asking for a snack now, a good sign 👍 He also wanted rice cake as I was breaking one up for the rats 🙄

Just saw you're looking for 15% I have not had any luck in that range that doesn't contain poultry or fish. I've been giving Petey the Rawz Tuna and Salmon MC, but I typically need to go right for HC and I use the Rawz rabbit kibble soaked in water, for the same reason... I don't want to instigate a GI flare.

I have a freebie sample of dry food but it's salmon and pea 😒

Natures Variety Instinct LID rabbit.

13%. That's what Leroy gets for his daytime snacks in the feeder. Oh.... maybe that's why PMPS can be yellow🤔 I can put him back on NV Originals rabbit 6% carbs.

Lotus Just Juicy Vension is 11% carbs. I can add a little corn syrup to that if needed 🤔

Thank you!

@Tim & Pookey found Zealandia if you're still looking into food allergies. They have green lipped mussels which Leroy's body doesn't like (bald fur patches).

Leroy ate the rest of his dinner 👍 Let's hope all the meds he's on keeps him eating and feeling well. Between his meds and the rats' meds and first aid stuff I basically have a mini vet hospital at home 😝
