Had a streak of blue from +6 to +11 yesterday, but no green yet. Curious what he'll do today.

I somehow (???) managed to really hurt my back last night so I can barely move and am in a stupid amount of pain considering I have no idea what happened. Fortunately my partner's home sick (but can move) because otherwise I'd be going up and down a flight of stairs 10 times just in the first 4 hours of the day. πŸ™ƒ

Oh, buddy! Get outta the limes! This is not what I meant about being good to mommy.

Okay, I'm just talking it out with you. When he dropped to 78 at +3, did you give him a MC carb or something higher than his regular LC?

Nope, just his usual LC +3 snack. I was always under the impression that we shouldn't feed until <50 but maybe I should just start giving him some MC earlier?

Wendy posted this the other day, and I pasted it on my ss so I won't forget. This is related to someone knowing whether they need to stay up testing, but it stands for any cycle, really: "A guideline that may help you to decide if you need to pull an all nighter is the +2 value compared to preshot value. If the values are about the same, it's a normal Lantus cycle with some downward movement. If the value of +2 is quite a bit lower, then it's more active and needs more attention paid. If the +2 is higher (such as last night), it's a quiet cycle and you can go to sleep."

So, when he has those +1, +2, +3 tests (and you can look back up his sheet and see this) where the drop is significant, you might suspect an active cycle. You could carb manipulate at that point just to keep him from diving. It seems that when Xander has a large point drop from the PS, he often (not always) goes into the limes. Thoughts? Shall we ask Wendy?

Also this talks about carb manipulating in those earlier hours of the cycle: Using Food to Manipulate the Curve (LLB)

I did expect it to be an active cycle, but was hopeful that maybe it would just be normal greens. I got my routine of feeding at +1, +2, and +3 from that sticky, but maybe I should customize it more and if it looks like it'll be active, switch to MC for +3?

He does seem to go into the limes if he has a large drop from PS, but I also feel like he just goes into the limes if he's gonna have any green at all, which is what's so frustrating. Sure, let's see what @Wendy&Neko thinks. :)

Haven't gone for the honey yet because he's just barely over 50 again for now but if he goes under again I guess I'll add a little to the next tsp of 15%. He's also gotta be starving because I started having to use carbs right at his lunch time and now I have to keep him hungry. πŸ˜”

Thought we were good after ~45 minutes above 50 but we dropped again. Gave him another tsp of 15% and added 1/4 tsp of honey.

ETA: 154 at +45m. Not sure how long the bump will last but it was a bigger jump and lasting longer than I anticipated. Libre's gone into Sensor Error mode because it's rising so rapidly.

He was supposed to have had lunch an hour and a half ago and has been just getting the tsp at a time. Poor dude.

Good luck with the reduction. When he goes LO, he seems to hold that reduction.

As far as feeding at +2 or so, what you feed will take some experimenting. It's one of those ECID things. We had one cat here who got a food bump from freeze dried chicken pieces, others who needed carbs of 25% to move them. I expect Xander is somewhere in the middle. Next time you see that big drop at +2, in this case it was >20%, experiment with something slightly higher carb. You can do higher LC (7-9%), or MC and see if it slows him down. You take great food notes in the SS. I'd like his green stretches to last longer (like Saturday), as those are nice healing numbers. You don't want to stuff him with high carbs to keep him from earning a reduction if it's time. Fast drops also cause bounces, so that's a second reason to ease him down with food manipulation.

I'll definitely try some different carb percentages when I see the big drops at +2 or so then. Saturday was so nice! I wasn't even expecting an active cycle that day because it started so late. Sometimes it feels like he's just unpredictable, but when I can see a possibility I'll try.

I definitely don't want to have to do this feed every 15 minutes thing just to keep him surfing; I'd rather take reductions. I just wish it weren't like green almost always meant lime too. πŸ™„

Thanks, Wendy. I always appreciate your input. πŸ’š

Ugh, how are you feeling? That sounds really painful πŸ€—. After 40, just sneezing becomes a hazard 🀣. Hope you got some rest.

I hope the carbs will help you manage the drops. It takes experimenting to see what will help Xander.

I hope your back heals quickly! πŸ«‚
Oddly, I woke up with back pain today, too. It must be going around 😘

Have a safe night, Brianna and Xander πŸ˜»πŸˆβ€β¬›πŸ’•πŸ₯°

Sorry, Brianna to hear about your back. I hope your back heals quickly and you feel better soon.
I pulled a muscle in my neck yesterday, so i know all about the pain and not moving.

Good luck with the reduction and experimenting with the carbs.
I hope you have a calm relaxed night and safe surf, Xander! πŸ’™πŸ˜»πŸ€—πŸ’•

If it made the difference between a nice green surf and those limes, I'd be so happy! We'll see.

Thank you! How weird (though maybe less weird for you, being stuck on the couch so often!) I hope yours is feeling better too. πŸ’™πŸ’™πŸ’™

Ugh, neck pain is just as bad! 😩 I'm sorry, Madeline! I hope it's feeling better today?

It's actually not as bad now as it was earlier, thankfully! Hopefully it doesn't feel worse after sleeping again. I haven't hit 40 yet but being the clumsiest human in existence I've somehow always managed to hurt myself if there was a way to do it. Extra points if it was dumb. πŸ˜…
