5/9 Petey AMPS 163

Hi Laurie, good luck with the reduced dose of gaba. Hope Petey is feeling better each day.
I hope the dose works well for him. That was quite an active cycle yesterday.
Hope you both have a calm day ❤️‍🩹🐈🥰

Hope the weaning off goes well and he starts to relax a bit more 🥰

I’d done a couple back to back reductions with Binx before because I was just too scared about the dropping, but glad you got the advice to wait out the depot. Hope he doesn’t drop anymore and you can reduce slowly as needed!

Thank you, Staci! 🤗 Every day the little man is feeling and acting better. He had another active cycle today! I'll hold it for a few more cycles.

For sure! Not a fan of walking that line, especially when 33% kibble is just holding him. 😳

Sweet Petey! I'm so glad he's feeling better.

Okay, so help me understand your dosing method (because I'm thinking it's somewhat custom, right): at what number are you taking a reduction? Strictly speaking, TR reduces at 50 for short term diabetics and 40 for long term. Are you reducing at a higher number?

Thank you!

Yes, TR reductions for the AT is <68.

EDIT: But no custom dosing... just using a pet meter.
Okay, so he earned the first reduction on 5/7, but he couldn't take the 5/8 reduction because it was considered back to back? How long must you wait on that dose, then. (And I'm sorry if this already posted somewhere--please tell me again--I'm tired.)

I was wondering the same thing but I'm assuming after the 6th cycle, then it's not considered depot influenced.

Okay. So, if you're no longer following the pre-determined nadir of <68 (which was again reached the next day), now you're following this?
  • Alternatively, attempt a reduction when the cat regularly has its lowest BGs in the normal range of a non-diabetic healthy cat (50 - 80 mg/dL) while staying under 100 mg/dl overall for at least one week.
?

(Am not trying to be annoying; just trying to figure this out.)

5/8 Post

Starting to wean Pete off the Gaba, going to once a day at night. I have noticed him pretty jumpy the last couple days... not like him at all... perhaps he feels more vulnerable or withdrawals.

Learned yesterday TR doesn't take back to back reductions so we will try 2.75 again.

Happy Friday!
Hi Laurie. Good luck with reducing the Gaba. I hope Petey is feeling better.

Wishing you both a calm relaxing night! 🤗

You're not annoying! I'm sure it's written some where but I'll have to defer to @Wendy&Neko as this was the recommendation on 5/8.

Not doing back to back reductions because of the depot makes since to me. And another benefit of TR.
