Vet's secretary got a full update on Leroy since she was away last week. The vet was calling her on the other line but she had to ignore him while she got a Leroy update 😂 I asked about continuing Flagyl or not since poop is firm now and about the eye ointment for his squinty eye. The secretary will let me know what to do once she's talked with the vet. I am not brining Leroy in unless it's an absolute emergency. My budget is blown for the month between Leroy and Crumbis 🫣

I hope Crumbis will be able to come home today. I'm not sure if the other rats notice her missing. They're going about their ratty lives as usual.

Any thoughts on my potential dilemma next month (see yesterday's condo)? Have someone feed Leroy but skip insulin and meds? I'm not sure how long the party and dedication will last. It runs from 4pm to 6pm but I don't know if one of those things where you can make an appearance and schmooze for half an hour or so and then leave or if most of the 2 hours is the dedication. RSVP is required by May 23.

Being on good terms with the vet secretary comes in handy! My vet practice has a team of four at the front desk and they are so nice to me. The number of times, especially last year, they had to comfort me when I was in flood of tears and total overwhelmed in the beginning of this whole business. They are just the nicest people, and it sound like you are lucky to have a friend and ally at your vet's too.

Sounds like you should try to attend the event? Could you perhaps move Leroy's dinner time a little earlier incrementally for the few days before, so that by the day of the party you are able to feed him before you go?

Hope Crumbis is well enough to come home and be reunited with her rat pals.

Helen makes an excellent point--schmoozing, especially with those who are important to Leroy, is important. And I also think you need to consider what you want. Do you really want to go? If so, then look for a solution to Leroy's situation. I might have friends feed, since that is important to Leroy, then either skip or delay (and then walk back) his meds.

All good options mentioned above. It's so hard to decide on these social situations.
I have skipped Ivy's insulin for 2 weddings in the past 2.5 years. (didn't do it lightly) but I really had to go.
Other than for vet visits and when I was fasting her for labs, I haven't skipped insulin.

So it's possible, as Wendy said (pretend a fur shot). He will recover! But only if you really want to or feel you need to go.

Could the meds be given so they are not skipped? Either by you early or late - or by your friends?
Not sure how you administer the meds.

Hoping all is well with Crumbis and glad Leroy is being a good boy! ❤️

I would have to go straight from work since it takes too long to go home and then head back out🫤 I don't have an option to WFH. The person before me did but she had kids including one a few months old so Tiger Mom was more lenient. It would be nice to meet the vet's secretary in person.

Pee puddle in the sink 🤦‍♀️Poop buried under pee pads by the litter mat. In other words Leroy is feeling much better 😝 The vet says to continue with the eye ointment for another 5 days. My MIA Wedgewood order shipped April 18 finally arrived  No idea what took so long. I did get my claim for that approved.

Crumbis is still breathing heavy but is active and alert. She's going to stay another night on oxygen. The vet hasn't gotten the radiograph results yet. The plan tomorrow is to see how well Crumbis does without oxygen.
