Hi, Phoebe is my baby, 13 year old tuxedo. diagnosed in July 2022 with diabetes. after some hiccups she got on glargine twice daily. food was changed to low carb and my mentors advised me through 8 months into remission in 2023. She is one of 5 furbabies in the house. I will get her pic up soon as I find it again. In March of 2025 --she again laid at the water bowl and her sugar was in the 300's. to the vet and 2 bad teeth. surgery removed and working on getting sugars under control if not back into remission. I also got a little lax on the carbs and have again adjusted all foods to a wet food. Raw rabbit, freeze-dried rabbit, fancy feast, all carbs 10 or under. i mark each can coming in the house how many carbs by using the Scheyderweb cat food calculator. It is very helpful. I sit on chewy and pull up the wet foods, calculate the carbs, make and add to my list of foods she can have. I have 4 other kitties and they are following a lower carb diet. their food is no more than 12 carbs. They are all good weights except Phoebe and Jack-her nemesis-have lost a bit of weight since all this began. But it is good as they both are elders and both overweight. Not so much now. I am also on the FDMB site and Phoebe with her buddies have a video, made on her OTJ day! If you can view it you will see all my little buddies. I pray the FDMB site comes back up completely. There is a boatload of good information, conversations, forums and knowledge from years of cat people coming together to assist in good diabetic outcomes for our loved ones.
I do have a google spread sheet for this year and the previous year. I make comments in my cells for moderators knowledge and comments in the comment column. This was one way to communicate when the site went down. It got me in contact with Bhooma--who has helped me immensely --as they all do. Welcome to all and happy to have this site back up.
