Petey is holding nice and flat, hit some greens last night... first ones I've ever tested at night.

Today is Day 8. I'll be calling the vet to ask about the smell. I would think if it was infection he wouldn't want to eat and would not continue to improve. He is no longer camping out in his carrier and he didn't take his Gaba last night and slept through the night with no BG spike from pain. So my guess is necrotic tissue and part of the healing process but I need some resassurance 8 days has seemed like months.

Have a great day! 🤗💚

When Esse had an infection after his dental last year, he did eat through it (all wet diet) but the smell was absolutely unmistakable compared to the other lovely scents our lil guys can have. I checked some old photos and we noticed it/got treatment four days after the procedure. He also had some drainage/crustiness from the spot. So I think your instincts are probably right that it's not infection.

Anecdotal obviously but thought I'd share in case it helps you feel a little less anxious!

It totally helps to hear other experiences. I am praying we'll get healed up from this without any complications, I could not imagine having to put him through that again. Thank you for sharing! 🤗

Getting a little nervous... seems to be coming down fast. Gave him snack at +3 still dropped... Don't want to hit the panic button and ruin his cycle.... will test in 15min.

Such a nice cycle going on today, and that spot of comfy green last night! All great news with his status (other than the smell). I hope the vet has some insight on that and it's just a normal healing stage. Both of you have been through enough!

HI Laurie, wow look at Petey's spreadsheet, turning blue and green 💙💚

Hope it means the healing is underway and helping his BG!

Glad he seems to have slowed down for you, have a safe surf sweet Petey! I hope the vet can answer some of your questions and give you some peace of mind. Wishing Petey continued healing xoxo
Please give him kisses from me and Ivy ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

In my experience, it took about 7-10 days for healing to happen after a dental. Neko always had a vet visit a week after a dental to make sure things were healing fine.

Looking at the spreadsheet, the increase to 3.5 units was too much. He'd seen low yellows on 3 units. Shouldn't be much of that too large depot left though. He's probably wanting to go back to his pre dental dose.

Good news, vet called back and wanted to see Petey. So we took him in and everything looks great he just had some food stuck in his stitches so she got that out and she was very pleased with how things are healing. Thank God! I was a nervous wreck thinking the worst.

Poor boy is traumatized, first time he's ever started fighting and hissing before I even took him out. Super quick visit and he doesn't have to go back on Tuesday. I hope he never has to go back, ever.

Think she asked how his BG has been, nope. He's killing it!

Thank you. He earned a decrease today so he's going down to 2.75. He was supposed to have his dental check next Tuesday but she wanted to see him today. All checked out good!

*Whew* I'm glad it wasn't something more serious! I hate that he has PTSD from going to the vet!!! Poor buddy!
