5/9 - Pookey - Vet Visit Completed

We just finished up with the home vet. Overall, they said he’s looking good.

We gave 100mg of gabapentin this morning and it seemed to help, but he was still pretty nervous.

We’ll get his bloodwork results back on Tuesday.

They couldn’t get a urine sample from his bladder after two unsuccessful attempts. So I guess I’ll try to catch him in the box at some point…

They pointed out some potential issues on his upper-rear teeth. They didn’t look great - but didn’t look terrible either. It just looked like he had some tartar, kind of a yellow/brown color. So, I guess something for us to monitor. She said no signs of resorption.

They want us to continue the Cosequin, Zyrtec, and adding water to his food.

I’ll update more when we get the lab values back. Hoping for no surprises!

Thanks Staci! I'm not sure how I'm going to catch a sample... hey I meant to ask you, do you fast Ivy when she has the T4 levels checked?

Believe it or not, I just stick the urine cup under Ivy’s butt and she just lets me. I can usually catch a urine that way.
Sometimes I mess up and I miss my aim so I’m just not under her in the right spot or sometimes I’ve aimed the cup too low and got litter in the cup and that ruins it so I have to try again the next day.
Hopefully you’ll have success. I know there’s lots of different methods to get a urine but this one seems to work for me and Ivy.

As for the T4, it does not need to be fasted so that should make it easier on you if that’s something you’re testing for.

That's pretty good! One idea in my head is like ladle on a long stick. So hopefully he doesn't even notice haha

I’ve read people use a dedicated long handle ladle. Whatever works!!
