More nice and blue starts 😻

I have an unrelated question. I'll be switching syringes soon. I've been using the BD Ultra fine pretty much since Nao's diagnosis. I used to get them from Colombia but I won't be able to anymore, so I ordered different ones from Amazon. The ones I got are the UltiCare VetRx. They look mostly the same, except the needle is a bit longer and that makes me nervous, but I'm mostly concerned about the dose. Would there be discrepancy between the two brands? Has anyone ever switched syringes and noticed any difference?

Any insight would be appreciated 🤗

Are the UltiCare VetRx ones you got with the 8mm/31g needle or the 12.7mm/29g needle? I originally got the 12.7mm/29g ones from my vet in a "sharps kit" but they didn't have half-unit markings, so I ordered those and noticed they had a shorter/finer needle.

I got the ones with the 8mm/31g needle. Are you currently using these?
The BD Ultra fine I've been using got a 6mm/31g needle; not much of a difference, but I'm a worrywart 😝🙃

Yes! I didn't notice a difference between the two UltiCare varieties except that the cat clearly preferred the finer needle, haha. But I was pretty new into our insulin journey when we made the switch. I'm on my second or third box of the 8mm/31g ones and haven't had any issues.

Brand and length of needle makes no difference. As long as the syringes are 3/10cc, your cat will get the same amount of insulin. UltiCare Vet syringes only come in a box of 60, not 100 like BD and other "Human" brands of insulin syringes.

I think @Brianna & Xander had a whole thread on FDMB before it broke about discrepancies with the rubber plunger and the space or lack of when the plunger is pushed all the way to the zero line and brands.
