yesterday: 6/2 Jack: 261@amps, 211@+2...dental tomorrow- fructosamine question

We survived. Poor Jack had 6 teeth out, and was apparently missing a bunch which I never knew about, so he's down to 5 teeth.😔 He came home on a shot of Convenia, a shot of Onsior, and 5 days of Buprenorphine. He had 4 units of insulin this morning since he couldn't have too much to eat, and I gave him 6.5 units this evening based on how much dinner he ate (I'm honestly surprised he ate as much as he did.) He goes back in 2 weeks for a recheck. I like the vet, and the techs are nice, and treated Jack well (even if most of them are dumb as a box of rocks and mostly useless). I'll post more details tomorrow, and update his SS then too. Just wanted to jump on fast and thank everyone again for their love, prayers and support. We truly appreciate them...and all of you!!🥰

So glad that’s over, for both of you! Poor baby! I hope he heals quickly, sending prayers for an easy recovery 🙏❤️‍🩹
So glad he ate got you tonight. Try to get some rest. Sending love to you and your extra sweet herd, Christine 💕❤️‍🩹🥰🙏🐈‍⬛🐈

Now I'm curious to see what happens to his numbers with those bad teeth out. Once he heals, he's going to feel so much better.
Yes, I was thinking that too. Plus, the no-kibble for 2 weeks rule will make life difficult here, he doesn't eat much without it, so we will have a busy recovery period trying to get a good dose. Will keep you posted on the IG-1/IAA results, but probably at least 1 week, possibly 2. Will make a longer post later, but you inquired about the in-house fructosamine, which was 367 with a 'normal range' of 191-349. The comments included were:
300 to 400 = 'good control'
400 to 450 = 'fair control'
>450 = 'poor control'
<300 = 'cat has reverted to non-insulin dependent state'/excellent control/prolonged hypoglycemia

Looking at his SS, I'm not sure I agree with this assessment. 🤷‍♀️
