I have all the meds I need so I don't expect to lug him to the ER today. He was quiet Wednesday night and I mentioned to the vet's secretary on Thursday that I was on possible p-itis watch for the holiday. I got some med refills to have just in case. Thursday to Saturday he was fine. Early this morning he threw up everything he ate before bedtime ๐Ÿคฎ His feeder snack was untouched. Then he had bloody diarrhea in the litter box. He didn't wake me up for breakfast and wasn't interested in eating when I fed civvie. Pink AMPS๐Ÿ‘Ž Gave insulin anyways and Mirataz. +1.5 he ate most of the food in the feeder and half an odansetron pill. +3 263 and ate a little more food and had more bloody diarrhea. He's drinking lots of water so I'm holding off on fluids. I'm waiting for the vet to respond to my email. He's on vacation but said I can email him. The time difference means a wait to hear back. Overall he's alert and active.

The limp is probably arthritis. Vet said to start Cosequin. I started Friday and will temporary stop it just in case it somehow messed up Leroy's weird body๐Ÿซฃ It's the regular Cosequin. I found an old FDMB post that said the maximum strength version of the regular Cosequin was better because of an extra ingredient so that's on order. More donation money for FDMB๐Ÿค‘ If Cosequin doesn't work, we're going to try Solensia or maybe Adequan.

Magic dog is coming soon ๐Ÿถ Hopefully Leroy will be somewhat normal by then๐Ÿคž

Nooo Leroy. Sorry Squeem. I hope he gets through this quick with how prepared you are!

Pookey is on Cosequin too. It seems to work but who really knows. If you havenโ€™t seen, there are a group of people out there that feel very strongly against Solensia. But then others who say it works great, including my vetโ€ฆ

Oh nooo ๐Ÿซฃ
Iโ€™m so sorry to hear this news.
Sending lots of Vines your way ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿƒ

Have you tried S. Boulardii for the diarrhea?
I think that made a huge difference and really helped Ivy. Iโ€™ve in fact kept her on it since February when she had P-Titis as maintenance.

Plus I was giving Animal Essentials Colon Rescue 2x a day. (chewy and Amazon both carry it.)

I hope the Cerenia helps calm things down, and glad to see you heard back from your vet, at least they know whatโ€™s going on.

Sendibg lots of good wishes! I know you have a good system in place. Leroy is in good hands ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ˜ป๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’

Ugh, I hate pancreatitis! ๐Ÿ˜  Sending many feel better vines for Leroy. Is he on a pain med too for the p'titis?

I think of arthritis as a three pronged approach. Something for inflammation (ex. omega 3), something for the joints themselves (Cosequin, hyaluronic acid, Adequan) and for the pain (Solensia, MSM, acupuncture, bupe). I've also seen people use tumeric or golden paste to help with inflammation. Neko also took Duralactin, but that only works if kitty can take milk products.

I have gabapentin and bupe on hand. Leroy doesn't seem to be in pain so I haven't given anything.

He ate most of dinner and a Flagyl and half an odansetron. He's still a bit quiet but no crouching or flat ears.

The budesonide is from a different compounding pharmacy and is chicken flavored. I started that bottle yesterday. Leroy's tummy doesn't like chicken. Could that have messed Leroy's body up? I have a refill arriving next week, also chicken flavored. I forgot to specify unflavored๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ

I'm hesitant to give him omegas because those are usually sourced from seafood. Seafood doesn't agree with his tummy. Or anything extra at all because of his sensitive tummy๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ

We've tried S. boulardii before but it didn't do anything. Leroy's on Visibiome now and it also doesn't seem to be doing anything

Did I mention that I stepped in his vomit while half awake trying to find where he had the stinky diarrhea? ๐Ÿ˜ตโ€๐Ÿ’ซ The diarrhea was in the second litter box. I cleaned up the vomit and my feet and then just covered the diarrhea with a layer of litter to deal with later.

Ugh on the vomit step. Been there done that. Not sure if it's worse when it's cold or warm.

I wondered about the omega-3's, which is why I provided other options.

I'd call the compounding pharmacy and see if there is any chicken in the budesonide. I wouldn't think so. Neko got chicken flavour bupe compounded, and she preferred the chicken soup flavour to the roasted chicken. I can't imagine they were hitting the deli for ingredients. One was oil base, one water base so you could be dealing with other different ingredients in it too.
