Bat Boy is going low on second dose after dose increase. Do I lower the am dose? I am awake and standing by in case of hypo. Decrease by .25 or less?

Does this fast and hard if a drop mean the dose is too high? I know…probably a duh question!

I will, thank you! He is hovering in low 50’s up to 71 right now. The Libre has a habit of reporting lows then recalibrating and changing the numbers to higher numbers.

His history says that he will Hover in these numbers for a few more hours then shoot up. Good thing I got a good night’s sleep last night. It’ll be about 2 hrs of sleep tonight 😬

I have several, but he’s a violent guy and won’t let me. That’s why we have a libre on him.

I can feed him some medium or high carb food, but he has IBD and will then have diarrhea which will mess up future dosing.

I guess the .25 bump was too much. I’ll have to drop him back and wait then increase in .1 U increments instead.

Thanks for changing your title but could you use the one from the prefix menu. It stands out more as it's red and will catch more attention.
Also how's he doing now?

Karolina gave some great suggestions. It's unfortunately that you can't test with a hand held meter. The Libre is known to show lower numbers than a hand held meter would, meaning that the 45 might not have been below 50. However, given the circumstances, you will have to take it at face value and see how he does with the reduction.

Since he came up fairly easily, you could probably stick to his regular LC food for now.

The fast and hard drop doesn't mean anything in particular. Some cats just drop fast. When you have a cat like that, it can be useful to Feed the Curve to slow him down. More information here: Using Food to Manipulate the Curve You may have to experiment with honey/syrup or other to get a higher carb version of his food. At what point in the cycles do you normally feed him?

He gets fed at shot time. I work away from home and return 12 hours later. Food is left out. I see on a camera that he often snacks at +6 and again at +9.

I will check out your feeding the curve link, thank you. Normally he is at his lowest between +6 and +8. This dose increase affected him already hard at +3

looking on the bright side I hope this means that we are getting close to an appropriate dose for him and it’s not just new dose wonkiness.

Elevator is going up now. He’s at 89. I’ll watch for a while yet and if he holds or keeps trending up I’ll get a few hours of sleep. Thank you for the help!

Dang! Libre recalibrated and took back those higher numbers with critical low alarms going off now. Ok…

Thank you, I don’t know all of the forum finer points yet though I did read a lot of the stickies. He is happily sleeping away on my feet oblivious to my concern.😀 The Libre is recalibrating and putting him back in the high 50’s. As Wendy said the Libre often reports lower than the real number. I’ve also read that under 50 it is reading higher than the actual number. I wish I could manual test to learn what those differences are specifically.

Could you remove the 911 now? Sounds like your question is answered and he's in the safe zone, Feel free to put it back up if he goes down again and you need help. If he goes low, feed him a little food, with a bit of syrup or honey if he goes below 50 again. I've never heard that under 50 the LIbre is reading higher than the actual number.

Yes, thank you. He is staying in the low 50’s. I fed him a teaspoon of medium carb food and hopefully he comes up a bit. I’m getting sleepy.

Ok, I dropped back to 1.5 U this morning after lows last night and now he barely broke 300. Can I try a lesser increase to 1.6 U instead of 1.75U or do I need to hold the 1.5U again?

He's bouncing, stick with 1.5 units until we see where his nadirs land when the bounce is over. Bounces can take up to 6 cycles to resolve.

Whoops, too late. I gave him 1.6. The 1.5 dose wasn’t working. That’s where he was at for 9 cycles before I raised him to 1.75.

I should go back to the 1.5 anyway?
